Switzerland is characterised by its political and economic stability, federal state system, low capital costs, stable currency, solid purchasing power, moderate tax burden and pronounced innovative prowess, all of which make it an attractive business location.

According to the annual study conducted by the UN Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Switzerland is the most innovative country in the world. In 2024, the alpine country secured this top spot for the 14th time in a row. Some of the factors that contributed to this achievement were Switzerland’s overall business environment, use of new technologies, patents and technical expertise.

Aargau is characterised by its pro-business and liberal policies. Administrative processes are streamlined and there are fewer barriers to collaboration with the authorities than in other cantons

In 2024, the credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s once again awarded the canton of Aargau the highest rating, ‘AAA’. In its analysis, the agency particularly emphasises the canton’s prudent financial management and low level of debt combined with high liquidity reserves.

Thanks to a diversified economic structure, continued investment in the quality of the business location will be possible in the years to come.

The UBS Cantonal Competition Indicator provides information on the long-term relative growth potential of the cantons in Switzerland. In the most recent ranking, the canton of Aargau came fifth place compared to other cantons, which underlines its strong economic potential.
