Axpo and TURN2X join forces in the area of green fuels

Baden/Munich/Extremadura - Axpo will be supplying TURN2X with electricity generated on the basis of renewable energies for its facility in the Spanish region of Extremadura. The Munich-based cleantech firm produces industrial grade green hydrogen and e-methane there.

(CONNECTAxpo and TURN2X have signed a power purchase agreement, according to a press release issued by the international energy group based in Baden in the Swiss canton of Aargau. Under the agreement, Axpo will supply electricity from renewable sources to the TURN2X plant in Extremadura, Spain, via the energy solutions developer Aquila Clean Energy. The Munich-based start-up produces green hydrogen and e-methane on an industrial scale at this facility.

“This agreement is a strong demonstration of the industrial feasibility of green hydrogen, measured against strict sustainability and economic criteria”, comments Ignacio Soneira, CEO of Axpo Iberia, in the press release. “Through initiatives like this, Axpo is actively contributing to the decarbonisation of hard-to-electrify sectors and providing guarantees of origin and traceability that comply with the new European regulations”, he adds. With the facility in Spain, TURN2X CEO Philip Kessler is keen to show “how our modular and flexible technology can be deployed much more quickly than traditional mega-plants”. ce/hs
