Oerlikon invests in new innovation and production hub
(CONNECT) OC Oerlikon Corporation AG, a company that specializes in the areas of thermal spray systems and coating solutions headquartered in Pfäffikon in the canton of Schwyz, Switzerland, has invested a sum of 40 million Swiss francs in a new innovation and production center at Campus Reichhold in the canton of Aargau. The company is now celebrating breaking ground in this project, with construction activities set to begin in the near future, as detailed in a press release. Operations at the new hub are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2027. The new campus will employ 250 staff and unite research and development, engineering, production and sales activities at a single building complex.
At the Campus Reichhold, Oerlikon is planning to develop thermal spraying and laser-based technologies, in addition to providing a wide range of other services. “The new Campus Reichhold will be instrumental in advancing our aerospace and general industry businesses by unifying the entire value chain in one collaborative environment”, comments Prof. Dr. Michael Süss, Executive Chairman of Oerlikon, in the press release.
The technology developed at the Reichhold Campus is intended to improve heat resistance, durability, and corrosion protection in high-performance industrial components. In the future, these technologies will primarily be used by customers in the aerospace, automotive and general industrial sectors. A test rig for aerospace turbine components will also allow the efficacy of thermal spray coatings to be validated under real-world conditions.
Moreover, Oerlikon is planning to implement comprehensive measures in order to reduce the environmental impact of its activities in the areas of energy consumption, mobility and resource management at the new location. ce/nta
