Bachem invests in new large-scale facility in Sisslerfeld

Bubendorf/Eiken - Bachem Holding AG is looking to increase its capacity for the production of peptides and to this end is planning to construct a large volume production facility in Eiken. The investment volume amounts to 500 million Swiss francs. Production activities are set to begin in 2030.

(CONNECTBachem is investing 500 million Swiss francs in the greenfield project in Sisslerfeld, which is located in the Fricktal region of the canton of Aargau. As the pharma supplier from Bubendorf in the canton of Basel-Landschaft writes in a statement, the plans involve the construction of a large-scale production plant for peptides as part of a strategic collaboration. This will be Bachem’s third location in Switzerland, and production activities are expected to commence there in 2030.

The company’s management state that the motivation behind this third Swiss location is the sustained high demand for peptides. In the words of CEO Anne-Kathrin Stoller, long-term supply agreements are essential to guarantee the supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients such as peptides to customers and patients, in addition to ensuring a controlled expansion of capacities. “This agreement further strengthens Bachem’s planning security beyond 2030 and enables us to responsibly coordinate investments across our entire manufacturing network, including Sisslerfeld”, she explains.

The strategic partnership reportedly encompasses advance payments and long-term commitments, the statement explains. According to the information, the two parties have agreed not to publicly disclose the finer details of the agreement.

Bachem operates locations around the world: In addition to Bubendorf, Eiken and Vionnaz in the canton of Valais in Switzerland, production activities also take place in Vista and Torrance in the US State of California, as well as in St. Helens in the UK. ce/heg
