DePoly, Kyan Health and Lumvin win the SEF Award 2025

Interlaken - Two of the three Swiss Economic Awards presented by the Swiss Economic Forum (SEF) went to cleantech firms this year: DePoly from Sion in the canton of Valais and Lumvin from Baden in the canton of Aargau. The third award was claimed by the start-up Kyan Health from Zollikon in the canton of Zurich.

(CONNECT) The Swiss Economic Awards were handed out at the Swiss Economic Forum in Interlaken in the canton of Bern. Three finalists had been selected in each of the categories of Service, DeepTech/Life Science and Production/Industry. The motto of the event, which saw 1,700 decision-makers from the worlds of business, politics and academia descend on Interlaken, was “Earn it”. In order to secure the Swiss success model in an increasingly complex world, the organizers claim that it is important to “refocus on entrepreneurial virtues such as personal responsibility, community spirit, modesty and a sense of proportion”.

DePoly won the Swiss Economic Award in the category of Deep Tech/Life Sciences. The award recognizes the Sion-based firm’s patented process for processing unsorted PET waste. Its plant produces virgin-quality monomers that are identical to their fossil counterparts. “This recognition fuels our drive to keep pushing boundaries in plastic recycling and scaling our impact globally”, as co-founder and CEO Dr. Samantha Anderson states in a press release. The company is set to open a 500-ton-per-year demo plant in Monthey in the canton of Valais this summer. This facility is being financed through a recently completed seed round, in which the company raised a total of 23 million US dollars.

The Baden-based Lumvin won the category of Production/Industry. The cleantech company modernizes inefficient lighting systems rather than replacing them, which is expected to save up to 80 percent of energy in addition to significantly reducing costs and CO2 emissions. The lighting systems can be remotely monitored, predictively maintained and controlled in an energy-efficient manner. All components are manufactured in Switzerland.

Kyan Health from Zollikon emerged victorious in the Service category. Its platform for corporate health management powered by Artificial Intelligence combines employee well-being with quantifiable business success. It can be integrated into existing HR systems, uses predictive analytics to identify health risks at an early stage, and facilitates targeted preventive measures. Since being founded in 2021, Kyan Health has grown rapidly and now supports more than 150,000 employees in total. According to information from the company, it has secured investments totaling 17.4 million euros to date. ce/mm
