Westfalen Gas Schweiz set to double industrial gas capacity
(CONNECT) Westfalen Gas Schweiz (WGS), a subsidiary of the Westfalen Group based in the German city of Münster, is expanding its filling plant in Eiken in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland, and creating new capacities for its international industrial gases business. According to a statement announcing the official groundbreaking ceremony, the plant expansion project serves the company’s goal of “becoming the preferred industrial gases partner for medium-sized businesses in Switzerland”, as WGS Managing Director Tony Moes explains.
An eight-figure investment has been announced, which is expected to nearly double production capacities. The filling plant at WGS’s headquarters in Eiken is said to be an important location for its European business. “With this expansion, we are laying the foundations for further growth in Switzerland, at the same time as strengthening our European network”, comments Thomas Perkmann, CEO of the Westfalen Group.
Since being founded 25 years ago, WGS has specialized in the production, filling and trade of gases and fuels, as well as in business with gas devices, plant planning and the installation of gas systems.
As part of the Westfalen Group, the company states that it supplies 300 different gases and standardized gas mixtures for virtually all applications across a range of industries. Its Swiss customers include SMEs operating in the beverage, pharmaceutical, laboratory, medical, welding and cutting industries. At its core, the product range is centred on the atmospheric gases of nitrogen, oxygen and argon, supplemented by acetylene and hydrogen. In addition, carbon dioxide and helium are all gaining in importance. ce/heg
