Axpo buys stake in Polish energy company Pstryk

Baden/Warsaw - Axpo has acquired a minority stake in the Polish energy firm Pstryk. With this investment, Axpo is seeking to support the development of modern energy services and innovative business models in the dynamic energy market.

(CONNECTAxpo, the energy company from Baden in the Swiss canton of Aargau, has acquired a minority stake in the Pstryk Energy Group from Warsaw, as detailed in a statement. Pstryk implements solutions related to dynamic tariffs, digital energy management and the integration of distributed assets such as photovoltaic systems, battery storage, electric vehicles and heat pumps, as Axpo writes in the statement. The agreement is described as being part of Axpo’s innovation strategy, which envisages “technologies and operating models that respond to the pace of change in the sector and the growing importance of digital energy services”.

The business model developed by Pstryk allows customers to gain real-time insight into energy consumption and costs, as well as the option to shift their consumption to cheaper times, make optimal use of self-generated energy and gain greater control over their bills.

Poland is said to be a relevant market for Axpo’s business activities and a place where solutions relevant to the future of the energy sector are being developed. The investment is reportedly an important signal that “Polish companies building modern energy solutions can attract partners who understand market trends. It also confirms that the direction we’ve chosen is strongly grounded in the long-term transformation of the sector”, comments Jacek Szlendak, CEO of the Pstryk Energy Group. In the words of Mateusz Marczewski, Managing Director of Axpo in Poland, the investment reflects the fact that local innovation can fit into broader European trends and respond to customer needs across the region.

Alongside Axpo, other investors taking part in the funding round include Future Energy Ventures as the lead investor, as well as Montis VC Fonds. ce/heg
