volenergy acquires bp’s Austrian mobility, convenience and EV charging business

Suhr/London/Vienna - BP has reached an agreement to sell its Austrian mobility, convenience and EV charging business. The branch network is to be acquired by volenergy AG, based in Suhr in the canton of Aargau.

(CONNECT) London-based BP has decided to sell its mobility, convenience and EV charging business in Austria. The entire branch network will be transferred to Suhr-based volenergy, as has been reported in a statement. The agreement covers 250 bp branded retail sites as well as the electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the fleet business associated with bp Austria in Vienna.

“By concentrating our capital on the assets and markets where bp can be most competitive and best serve customers, we are strengthening our balance sheet and creating a stronger downstream portfolio,” explained Richard Harding, Interim EVP Downstream at bp. Melanie Milchram-Pinter, Head of Country Austria at bp, also commented: “bp has built a strong mobility and convenience business in Austria over many decades and we believe volenergy AG is well placed to take it forward.”

Subject to regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to complete at the end of 2026. The retail sites in Austria will continue to operate under the bp brand through a brand license agreement. ce/ww
